Regional energy transition: Large-scale storage facility for an energy cooperative in Schleswig-Holstein
EGIS eG is pursuing the goal of setting an example for the regional energy transition. In the municipality of Lehe in the district of Dithmarschen, the community energy cooperative has now commissioned a 3.5 MWp community solar power plant with a 3,6 MWh large-scale storage system. In purely statistical terms, the project can supply around 1000 four-person households with electricity. Thanks to our scalecube, which temporarily stores the solar energy, even at night or when the sky is cloudy. The solar park was realised by our partner MaxSolar from Traunstein in Bavaria. A leading provider of integrated, innovative energy solutions for companies and local authorities in the field of renewable energies.
- Automatic Frequency Restoration Reserve (aFRR)
Involving the public in the energy transition
With the combination of solar park and energy storage, the citizens’ cooperative wants to give citizens the opportunity to actively participate in the energy transition. The aim is to promote decentralised, independent and ecological energy generation. In Lehe, the cooperative gained a foothold with an innovative solar park in a region that tends to be characterised by wind energy.

Energy storage system maximise the output of the solar system
Our large-scale storage system makes the solar park even more innovative: as it temporarily stores the green solar energy and releases it back into the public grid when it is needed, it helps to stabilise the grid. The system provides the grid operators with automatic Frequency Restoration Reserve (aFRR)and thus keeps the frequency of the power grid stable.
Citizens from Lehe and the surrounding area have the opportunity to participate in the project via co-operative shares. The returns thus benefit local businesses.

"There are still not many solar parks with battery storage in Germany. We believe in this combination. Solar power from midday can be fed into the storage system and then fed into the grid when required. This contributes to grid stability and security of supply"
"The solar park and energy storage facility in Lehe not only sends a clear signal in favour of the regional energy transition, but also enables citizens to actively participate in this important process. By combining renewable energy generation and innovative storage technology, we are promoting decentralised and ecological energy generation."
