NRW Launch Special Environmental Management Programme

The impact of the ongoing corona crisis continues to significantly restrict economic activity. Companies from the environmental industry are also affected by these challenges. This industry is of significant importance for North Rhine-Westphalia as a business location, as NRW is currently the largest provider of products and services in this sector in Germany.

To ensure that companies survive this crisis stronger and more secure, NRW is now supplementing the emergency aid with its own economic stimulus package – the Environmental Industry Special Programme. This special programme focuses on the small and medium-sized companies that are particularly hard hit by the corona pandemic and also addresses newly established companies in the environmental sector. The programme “Measures in the field of green business start-ups” therefore applies to newly established companies, to support the development of prototypes and to open up markets. The “Research, Development and Innovation” programme will enable existing companies to develop and position themselves for the future.

The Special Programme Environmental Economics is intended to further strengthen North Rhine-Westphalia, make it crisis-proof and future-proof and supports, among other things, municipal climate adjustments and the expansion of green infrastructures. The state is providing 5 million euro for this purpose. Funding will then be provided on the basis of grants and can cover up to 80% of eligible expenditure. Applications for funding for “Research, Development and Innovation” can be submitted until 26 November 2020. The documents for the application for funding for “Green Start-up measures” can be submitted up to and including 31 December 2020. In this way, the NRW State Government will continue to focus on the expansion of the green economy with a sustainable approach.
