INTILION moves into European Battery Hub in Paderborn
- , Paderborn
The Paderborn-based energy storage provider INTILION is now storing its spare parts and battery storage racks centrally in Hartmann International’s newly built European Battery Hub in Paderborn. Thanks to its location in the centre of Germany, the site guarantees connections to all major transport hubs and ports as well as to the battery storage integrator’s customers. ‘To ensure a smooth and fast project process and high availability, we have both the most important spare parts and complete storage systems in stock and can offer our customers a quick solution for any enquiries,’ explains Philipp Knaup, Chief Operation Officer at INTILION.
The European Battery Hub is directly connected to the international freight forwarding terminal via an underground tunnel solu-tion, where all customer orders are dispatched daily via Hartmann International’s international freight forwarding network. An intelligent recharging management system ensures that the individual battery modules maintain the optimum charge level at all times.
Storage in accordance with hazardous substance class 9
The storage facility fulfils all the requirements of hazardous substance class 9, which is a prerequisite for the storage of battery storage systems. Among other things, this includes an automatic extinguishing system and a stable storage temperature. ‘Our new building – the European Battery Hub – is unique in Europe when it comes to safe processes, state-of-the-art technology and optimised control,’ says Björn-Peter Böhme, Managing Director of Hartmann International and responsible for the storage of hazardous substances. In the new European Battery Hub, process safety begins at goods receipt. The goods are checked and the incoming temperature is measured at the incoming gate. ‘This is how we ensure that the goods are already in perfect condi-tion when they are stored,’ explains Björn-Peter Böhme.
Drone guarantees maximum security
During storage, a drone monitors the goods 24/7, allowing the position and quantity, including a photo of the stored items, to be viewed in real time in the warehouse management system. The drone is also equipped with a thermal scanner. ‘This allows us to recognise leaks or hazards at an early stage so that we can intervene and eliminate the goods directly from our warehouse,’ says Böhme.
INTILION and Hartmann International can already look back on a long-standing partnership. ‘They are located at our home base in Paderborn and their plan to build one of the most modern hazardous goods warehouses immediately convinced us. We had been looking for a storage location for some time – both for palletised goods and for entire battery packs with a total weight of up to four tonnes. We have found the perfect partner in Hartmann International,’ says Philipp Knaup.
